Celebrating God's Story for Joel and Louanne

Last spring Joel Bennett accepted a position at Life Spring Community Church as the Director of their Launch 2.0 initiative. This will require that both Joel and Louanne give their full attention to ministering there.

We want to bless them in this new adventure, excited to watch how God continues to write their story. As part of that blessing, following the service on September 25th, we will have time of commissioning for Joel and Louanne.

A New Season of Small Groups!

It’s time to start thinking about small groups again for the season. There were a few groups running last year that will start up again. There are also one or two new groups starting to take shape. We want all of you whether you were part of a group last year or not to have the chance to sign up.

Erin will be connecting with group leaders and providing opportunities for new members to sign up very soon. So at this time, we’re asking all small groups to postpone beginning a new curriculum until this happens. But this doesn’t mean that groups can’t start getting together. Just hold off on beginning a new curriculum or study.

Welcome Highview's New Intern: Erin Wildsmith

Erin Wildsmith has began an internship at Highview. She is finishing her last year of the MDiv Program at McMaster Seminary. As a church we have been blessed to have her and her husband Dave with us! Erin will be embracing the role of Small Group Director. As the Small Group Director she will be co-ordinating the groups, and will be a resource and support to the group leaders.

Thanksgiving Service - Oct. 9th

Many of us will be stuffing turkeys this Thanksgiving, and Highview is no exception! On Thanksgiving Sunday, Oct 9th join us for our Thanksgiving service at 10:30am. We’ll be coming together to worship God, give thanks, and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

For the last half of our time together we will be making it our goal to Stuff a Turkey with canned food by going door to door to collect non-perishable food items for people in need.

In preparation for this we’re having a Contest! Your challenge is to take a garbage can preferably on wheels and create a one of a kind turkey. You can submit your turkey as a family, group, or individual. The more turkeys we have to stuff the better. Creativity and fun are musts in this competition. We have some supplies set aside downstairs that you can use if you need them.

Bring your turkey with you on Sunday, Oct. 2nd and we’ll announce the winner.
What a great way for us as a church to have fun and show our appreciation to God and love for our community at Thanksgiving.

Two New Children to Sponsor at Hot Springs - Wirachai

My name is Wirachai. I was born on March 15th, 2005. I attend Kindergarten (Level 2) and I am 6 years old. I am a member of the Karen tribe.

I am the youngest of two children.
I have an older brother.
My parents separated and my mother has been caring for us.

My mother is very poor and plants rice in our village in the mountains. She does this all herself. My father is no longer involved in our lives.

I am so glad to now have a new home and a new family and to be able to go to school and learn about God.

Would you like to sponsor Wirachai? Please email Jen Connor at keepersmom@sympatico.ca.

Your monthly sponsorship of $60.00 helps to provide: food, housing, clothes, schooling, school supplies, medical expenses, etc.

In addition, at least twice a year you have the opportunity to send care packets to your child, exchange letters, and receive updates and photos from our church members who travel to Hot Springs, Thailand.

Two New Children to Sponsor at Hot Springs - Rompo

My name is Rompo and I was born on November 6th, 2002. I am 9 years old and attend 3rd grade. My tribal background is Karen.

I am the second of three children.
I have one older brother and one younger brother.

In my village there is no school, and my parents are very, very poor. But they want me to have an education.

And most importantly, I now have the opportunity to know God.

My parents are not yet Christians but are learning about God.

Are you interested in sponsoring Rompo for $60.00/month? Please email Jen Connor at keepersmom@sympatico.ca

Anniversary Sunday - June 5th

Love KW - Food Drive
Tomorrow: Friday, June 3

1) Arrive at Highview between 5pm & 6pm and meet up with Ian and Renee downstairs.

2) If you can bring a vehicle, empty out your trunk so you can collect donated food. If possible, create your own team to go in your vehicle so someone can drive, and others can go door to door.

3) No vehicle - no problem. Renee can match you up with a team and you can still go out on a route.

4) Don't feel up to walking - don't feel left out. We have lots of jobs back at Highview Home Base to help get this food sorted, boxed and weighed.

5) Please bring as many boxes, cloth and plastic bags as possible. If you need your cloth bags back, be sure to label them.

6) We also need to borrow your bathroom scales. Ian will need them Friday night and the big day on Saturday where the freight truck is going to be filled.

7) If you have a wagon, please bring it along to help unload food from cars and bringing them inside.

8) Don't forget to wear your Love KW T-Shirts!

KORP KOON, KA!

It's hard to find the right words, in Thai OR in English, to properly express my deep thanks for all who supported my time away in Thailand last month. God used this visit to encourage me in deep, deep places of my soul, mostly through the clear evidence of His loving and significant participation in the lives of our kids. Hot Springs is doing SO WELL! Sponsors - Thank you! The impact you are making is incalculable. Suradet and Yupa are strong, loving, creative and industrious parents, making a life of peace and stability for these children. We are well invested by partnering with them in this joyful responsibility. You will hear more in coming weeks of the vision Suradet and I both have to expand and add more kids to the Hot Springs family. I want to thank the Staff, Front Line Leaders, Elders and all the volunteers who so beautifully carried on the important kingdom work God has for us here at Highview while I was gone...not a surprise given the quality of people who love and serve at Highview. Thanks....Ruth Anne
