CONNECTing at Highview in January

Sundays are not enough. For meaningful connection to happen along the road to spiritual formation, an hour or so together on a Sunday morning, just won't cut it. That's why we are providing everyone at Highview with a four-week opportunity to connect in small groups of 6 to 12. We'll be learning together from a fun and effective tool called REGROUP, that uses DVD vignettes, table talk discussion, and small group interaction to form our understandings and expectations of community life and spiritual growth.

Begins: Week of January 9.

Sign up on the Community Board TODAY!!!

Elders' Team 2011

Thank you to all who submitted names for consideration in our Elders' Review and Selection Process 2011. According to our prescribed process, we are carefully considering all names, and the needs of Highview for the next calendar year. Please be praying as God's guidance moves us forward to the formation of the Elders' Team 2011.

Cam Ogilvie - In the Philippines from November 11 to December 13

As part of his Expedition program through Emmanuel Bible College, our very own Cam Ogilvie will be serving in and around the city of Manila, engaging with the abject poverty of that region. Watch for posted updates on the bulletin board by the coffee machine. Keep praying for Cam and all that God will do in and through him because of his time in regions beyond.

Highlights for Week of April 18th

Highview Goes Camping - Something New
In an unexpected turn of events, NO campsites; group or individual, were available the Aug. Civic Weekend at Bruce Peninsula National Park this summer. This despite our regular timing and process of reserving sites.
We know this represents a BIG change for many who have held a long tradition of camping together at this particular spot. HOWEVER, the hearty camper spirit at Highview and our desire for a relaxed time of community together over the weekend will prevail! We are now looking for an alternative spot and/or venue, and welcome your suggestions. Please contact George at georgegabber@rogers.com with suggestions and questions, and stay tuned for more on how our Long Weekend in Aug. will unfold.

Family Chat – Tuesday April 27: 7:30pm
Property Expansion Update.
Moving strongly into a possible and necessary future.

Divine Conference 2010
June 4th and 5th – Koinonia Church
This conference exists to help women from every background, age and season of life to know that they are valued and precious – lovingly created by God with great potential. Rates before April 26 are $30 for students,
solo moms and seniors, $45 for others, and financial assistance is available for those who need it.
Talk to Karen Bowman today if you are interested.

Opportunities To Go Deeper

On Feb 7th we were led in an exercise of personal reflection. With a brick symbolizing something precious to us, we released them with ‘Ruthless Trust,’ over to God. On Feb 21st we performed a 1 point personal sermon, picking 1 of 14 Grace Practices listed on a gold medal representing the ideal of ‘Going for the Gold.’

Did you miss one of these Sundays?

Were you here and would like to continue on this journey of self-discovery?

Pick up a packet at the back of the sanctuary with a copy of the sermon you can use at home.

This year, Courtney will be heading to Panama as an intern. Along with added responsibilities, this will extend her trip to seven weeks. Please be sure to read her letter to find out how you can be supporting Courtney on this challenging mission as she continues to serve God and the people of Panama through her work.

A letter of thanks from Norma

Dear Highview Family
Just wanted to take this time and tell you all a great big THANK YOU, for all your prayers, support and your hugs during my recovery from surgery. I could just tell that I had many people praying and supporting me.
All through the tests and surgery, I was calm and relaxed.
I know I was in God’s Hands, and He is always in control.
Thank you for all the Get Well/Recovery cards. It was greatly appreciated.
God Bless you all – Norma Metzger.

Please be praying

We have a number of Highview Connections that are needing some prayer right now.
Please be praying for:

For Luke Ranger and his family, as Luke recovers from major abdominal surgery, in hospital in Hamilton. Pray for strong healing, comfort for pain, Catherine and kids as they cope without Dad and travel to and from.

For the family of Ritchie Nichols who passed away suddenly at age 43, leaving behind his wife Michelle, and their 2 daughters ages 2 & 4. Dear friends of John, Pauline and Jay McAughey.

For Glen Shantz, father of Beth Driver, who underwent major heart surgery last week.

For the family of Duang, Asia's Hope staff member at DoiSaket 1 Orphan Home (close to Hot Springs) who was killed in a moto accident last Sunday. His wife Lew, and daughter Kelepaw were seriously injured and are still in hospital. Duang and Lew would be colleagues of Suradet and Yupa who serve at Hot Springs. For updates see more information, please go to http://breadandhoneyrab.blogspot.com/

For relief efforts in Haiti and the ongoing impact of the earthquake on so many. Pray for our friends in Sapote, and also for Giordani and family who now have a household that numbers 19, representative of the new reality for the whole country.

Thank you.
